“Over the past four decades, the total fertility rate in Malaysia has been in decline from 4.9 babies in 1970 to 1.9 babies in 2016. This number is below the replacement rate of 2.1 babies, and it indicates that the aging population will be sped up, whereby Malaysia is expected to become an aging nation by 2030 when 15 percent of the people are aged 60 and above,” said Yang Berhormat Puan Hannah.
“Recognising infertility as an issue, the Government wants to provide Malaysians with the support they need to have a family of their own. Budget 2020 will allow couples to withdraw their EPF savings for assisted reproductive treatments, as well as get tax rebates of up to RM6,000 for medical fees related to fertility treatments,” she continued.
Dr. Wong Pak Seng, Founder, and Director of Sunfert Group said, “We have been supporting couples in their journey towards parenthood through effective and affordable fertility care in a personalized manner. We do this to share our patients’ joy in having a baby while helping to increase the birth rate in Malaysia.”
He continued, “On top of helping couples conceive babies, we are also helping younger couples to plan ahead for their future through services like fertility profiling, ensuring couples with genetic predispositions conceive healthy babies through preimplantation genetic testing, and provide cancer patients with the hope of having a family through fertility preservation methods prior to chemotherapy.”
Dr. Wong further commented, “With a strong emphasis on research and quality assurance, we have excellent infrastructure and invest in cutting-edge technology yet are affordable in our pricing. We are also able to draw on the expertise of our international partner, New Zealand’s Fertility Associates. Furthermore, using EmbryoScope, a time-lapse technology that helps to improve IVF treatment by allowing for better embryo selection through accurate assessments from continuous observation in an undisturbed culture, we are able to provide patients with improved implantation rates, reduce pregnancy loss, and shorten the overall time to pregnancy.”
