Ipoh is a heaven for food of all kinds but it is not easy to find these delicacies in Kuala Lumpur. My recent visit to Ipoh Market Street proved me wrong! They brought all of Ipoh's awesomeness under one roof! Ipoh Market Street is situated on the Upper Concourse of Avenue K, the restaurant is spacious and comfortable with a nice nostalgic touch to it.
Let's check out the chef recommendation for the day!
Market Street Chicken Rice RM12.90
Steamed chicken rice served with tender white-braised chicken, it is best eaten with chilli and ginger.
Market Street Roast Pork Rice RM12.90
This dish is highly recommended! Mouthwatering crispy roast pork which was so tender and juicy, every bite melt in the mouth.
Nasi Lemak with Rendang Chicken RM13.90
The classic breakfast in Malaysia, fragrance coconut rice with a big chunk of ayam rendang topped with cucumbers, roasted peanuts, ikan bilis and eggs.
Market Street Prawn Noodles RM11.90
The prawn mee comes with noodles of your choice, kangkung, eggs, shrimps and fried fish cake and it was served in a delicious prawn based soup which was mildly sweet.
Market Street Curry Mee RM11.90
Another popular dish here in Ipoh Street Market, curry mee topped with long beans, roasted pork and shredded chicken, the curry based soup was spicy which made it so satisfying!
Market Street Dry Curry Mee RM11.90
The dry version of curry mee comes with the same toppings like the wet version but instead of soup, it came with a thick, delicious curry sauce which was very flavourful.
Rice Noodle Roll with Curry Pork Skin RM6.90
Chee cheong fun topped with curry pork skin and sprinkled with sesame. This mouthwatering dish is definitely a must try!
Market Street Squid Ball RM3.50
Fresh bouncy squid balls with mayonnaise on top.
Market Street Kaya Butter Toast RM4.90 & Ipoh White Coffee RM3.50
The perfect combination, this is actually a Malaysian's favourite breakfast, a generous amount of kaya and butter spread on crispy hot toast and top it up with a cup of classic white coffee in porcelain cups!
Market Street Soft Boiled Egg on Toast RM4.90
Start your day with a wholesome meal of two beautiful runny eggs on top of a perfect toast bread, season it with soy sauce and white pepper and feast off with it!
Ipoh Kaya Puff (6pcs) RM7.50
Freshly baked crispy golden kaya puffs, this is another one of my favourites here. Have it with a cup of Ipoh White Coffee for the perfect tea time. For dinners who can't finish 6 pieces may order 1pcs RM1.50 or 3pcs RM4.20.
Ipoh Bercham Tau Fu Fah RM3.50
This is something you should not miss, silky smooth soybean made into a pudding, just in time for tea. At Ipoh Market Street Tau Fu Fah is served with either brown sugar syrup or white syrup.
Ipoh Pulut Kaya RM5.90
Another popular teatime delight, this nyonya kueh that is also known as Pulut Tai Tai. The glutinous rice cake uses the natural colouring from bunga telang for its blue color and its best served with kaya.
Market Street Sweet Potato Dessert RM3.50
One of my all time favourite, this dessert is made from 2 types of sweet potato, cook with ginger based soup.
Wan Tou Long Jelly Ice 晕头狼 RM4.90
One of Ipoh's speciality dessert, the sweet and sour dessert was just so appetising. The based is shaved ice topped with jelly, sour plum and lime.
Ipoh Caramel Custard Egg RM4.80
Sweet custard coated with caramel sauce. This will be a great dessert to end the meal with.
Market Street Fruit Rojak RM8.50
Mixed fresh fruits, vegetable, rice crackers with a yummylicious sweet prawn sauce and sprinkled with ground peanuts!
Generally, I found the food and drinks were good, I love that it is a simple spot that we could all come with our family and friends and the price for a restaurant in a shopping it was really affordable. There are mixed reviews of the restaurant but fortunately for me, it went pretty well during my time here.
