Treating pigmentation and Freckles with Nd YAG Laser at Premier Clinic

People with pigmentation will understand how hard it is to get rid of it. I have been trying for years and it is still there! Went to Premier Clinic at Bangsar last week, a leading aesthetic clinic that provides and focuses on non-invasive procedures and customized solutions for face, skin and body needs.

As I walked in the clinic, I receive a warm and genuine greeting by a team of girls, I was asked to fill up my details and wait for my turn. Here is the pic of my pigmentation on my cheeks and hopefully there are ways to make them disappear.

I have heard many good reviews on laser but I did not know which was the best for me to treat my pigmentation. During my consultation with Dr Jaswine she asked me specifically what is my main concern and I told her about my skin woes, my biggest concern were my pigmentation on the side of my cheeks and she recommended Nd YAG laser for me.

WHAT IS Nd YAG LASER

Nd YAG is a non-ablative laser, which means that there is no break in skin tissue continuity during the treatment. It is designed to target pigment cells. This specific wavelength is absorbed preferentially by pigments (melanin) and the resultant heat will cause generation and propagation of waves that cause damage to the cells containing pigment. These damaged cells will then be cleared from the site resulting in lightening of the pigmented site.

IS Nd YAG TREATMENT PAINFUL?

On the scale of one to ten, it was actually zero for me, there were no pain at all although doctor told me there might be a little discomfort. This procedure does not require numbing cream, there is also a cooling device that helps reduce the discomfort of the laser. Basically, I just felt a warm prickling feeling on the surface of my skin. In the beginning, I felt pretty nervous but after a while, you will get used to the feeling. The session was quick, it only took 15 minutes.

HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED BEFORE I CAN SEE SIGNIFICANT RESULTS?

Treatment for pigmentation does not come immediately, it is a gradual process which requires time and effort by the doctor and patient. As everyone has different severity, the number of treatment varies for each patient. 6 sessions of ND Yag laser is recommended for most patient to see significant results. Each session is done 2-4 weeks time depending on your skin condition.

MY THOUGHTS

I can see improvement on my skin, as mentioned one treatment would not clear all my pigments that have been there for years, I will definitely go back for more because I notice the pigments on my cheeks are slightly lighter and my skin has a gorgeous dewy glow.
